About Us

A small gift. A greater purpose.

WIMROF was inspired by the widow who gave her all. Today, that spirit guides our commitment to vulnerable, underserved, and marginalised communities.

Our Story

Born from two small coins.

The Widow’s Mite

Our name is inspired by the biblical story of the widow who gave her all — embodying the spirit of generosity and selflessness. Just as she offered her choicest gift, we dedicate ourselves fully to improving the quality of life for underprivileged people.

Beyond Widows

Although our name is inspired by a widow, our work extends far beyond. We support vulnerable, underserved, and marginalised communities — including children, women, families, and persons with disabilities.

Community-Driven

We develop sustainable interventions in health, education, livelihoods, inclusion, and advocacy — designed together with the communities we serve, not simply for them.

Today

From our base in Kano, Nigeria, WIMROF turns generosity into measurable change — one community, one programme, one life at a time.

Vision & Mission

Where we are heading.

Our Vision

To empower and uplift underprivileged, underserved, and marginalised communities by creating sustainable solutions that ensure equitable access to health, education, and livelihoods.

We aspire to foster a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive — regardless of their circumstances.

Our Mission

WIMROF is committed to developing and implementing innovative, community-driven initiatives that address fundamental needs in health, education, and livelihoods.

Our mission is to create lasting impact by advocating for inclusive policies, enhancing local capacities, and delivering targeted interventions that improve the quality of life of vulnerable populations. We prioritise vulnerable people, underserved communities, and persons with disabilities in all our projects.

Core Values

Five values. One standard.

Generosity

We believe in giving our all, just as the widow gave her mite — driven by generosity and the desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

Inclusion

Our projects and initiatives are inclusive — particularly for people often overlooked, including persons with disabilities and underserved communities.

Sustainability

We create sustainable solutions that provide long-term benefits and empower communities to continue thriving independently.

Excellence

We deliver the highest standards in everything we do, continually improving our programmes, services, and impact so our efforts consistently uplift and empower.

Integrity

Integrity is the cornerstone of our work — transparency, honesty, accountability, and ethical practices in all our operations, building trust with everyone we serve.

Accountability

We measure what we do and report honestly — so every donor, partner, and community can see exactly where their mite went and what it achieved.

How We Work

From listening to lasting change.

01

Listen to the community

Every programme starts by hearing what people need — not assuming it.

02

Identify priority needs

Community members and local leaders help us set honest priorities.

03

Co-design practical solutions

Solutions are built together — with persons with disabilities included by design.

04

Implement inclusive programmes

Accessible, culturally sensitive delivery reaches those who need it most.

05

Measure results

We track outcomes transparently, so generosity becomes measurable impact.

06

Strengthen local capacity

We train and equip local people to lead long after we leave.

07

Support long-term sustainability

Benefits continue — communities thrive independently.

Our Commitment

Inclusion is non-negotiable.

Every WIMROF programme considers accessibility, gender equality, cultural sensitivity, disability inclusion, and the meaningful participation of vulnerable groups — from first design to final evaluation.
